About
Mikell’s Plot is a seven-piece high-energy performance band with a Punk, Blues, Hard-Rock and Heavy- Metal style. The band formed in 1998 when Michael O’Connor a Sayreville, New Jersey resident published his song “Monster On My Wall.” O’Connor credits influences such as “The Ramones”, “Black Sabbath” and “AC/DC” for the high energy Rock ‘n Roll feel the band’s music exudes.
The members of Mikell’s Plot’s all hail from Central New Jersey and include lead vocalist Michael O’Connor of Sayreville, bassist Andrew Edick of Old Bridge, drummer Eddie “Elf’ Piotrowski of Edison, lead guitarist and backing vocalist Pete Mongiello from Springfield, rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist George Rivera of Jersey City, saxophonist Douglas “Max” Maximus DeRienzo of South Orange, and keyboardist and backing vocalist John Mulrenan of Howell.
The band was “discovered” in 2004 by Christian Treiber of Dreamscape Records who distributed Mikell’s Plot’s first CD in 2005 with its title song “Monster on My Wall” being voted first prize for the Best Punk Song by audiences from www.ourstage.com and was also chosen number one in the Blues category for the follow-on song “Just Show Me Funk 50.” Their 2009 CD release is titled “I Remember” with the band’s most recently self-titled five-song EP-CD on the Victory Music Buzz label. A live in-studio performance of the EP’s first track, “72 Missed Calls” was featured on the Bridgeside Live 24/7 streaming video channel with a music video in the works.
Mikell’s Plot’s recent feature performances and credits include opening for America’s Number One “Pink Floyd” tribute Band, “The Machine” at AEG’s Starland Ballroom, The United States Chess Federation at the Parsippany Hilton and inclusion on a compilation CD with “Monster Magnet” and “Skid Row.” Radio station 92.9 featured the music and an interview with Mikell’s Plot in its coveted drive-time slot and when not headlining venues such as the legendary Stone Pony the band believes in “paying it forward” and can often be found raising money for charities and playing regional benefit performances.
Upcoming dates include a benefit for The American Cancer Society and an opening performance for “Warrant”at New Jersey’s Starland Ballroom in Q-1 of 2019.
Mikell’s Plot band members bring individual credits to the fore with drummer Elf Piotrowski’s “Giant Drum Set” being featured in the May 2018 edition of the renown Modern Drummer magazine and keyboardist and composer John Mulrenan’s songs adding to the mood of Robert De Niro’s movie “Hands of Stone.”
When asked what makes Mikell’s Plot sound unique; Michael O’Connor answers, “it’s the distinctive sound of the hard-driving Rock guitars with a Blues saxophone.”
